Weather & fire behaviour – Kistatinaw River Wildfire – June 14, 2025
From BC Wildfire: Today, June 14, expect steady rain with northwest winds at 10 to 15 km/h. The temperature will reach a high of 14°C, and relative humidity will be at least 75%. Fire behaviour is expected to be similar as yesterday with rain likely to continue in the central parts of the Prince George Fire Centre, and heavier rain likely in the Dawson Creek area. Rain will ease off to scattered showers on Sunday. Thunderstorms may develop in the afternoon as skies begin to clear, and temperatures rise. Humidity will stay moderate.
On Monday, another weather system will bring more showers and possible thunderstorms in the afternoon. Similar weather is expected Tuesday, with more afternoon showers and storms in the Dawson Creek Zone.
Firefighting crews are working on strengthening containment lines, supported by aircraft. Heavy equipment continues working on building fire guards on the northeast side of the fire. These operations are essential for creating tight, secure containment lines that prevent further spread. Structure protection personnel will continue to test and maintain systems in One Island Lake, Highway 52E and Kelly Lake.
Due to recent rainfall, favourable weather conditions, and the continued efforts of firefighting crews, the County of Grande Prairie has downgraded the evacuation order and alert in specific areas. PRRD EOC has also downgraded orders and alerts for the region. See these at prrd.bc.ca.
