The CLFD trains firefighters to the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) 1001 Level 2 Standard. Currently the department has 20 firefighters trained at that level. The CLFD recruits new firefighters once a year. 

How to Become a Volunteer Firefighter with the Charlie Lake Fire Department

  • Recruit Package Completion including Medical Clearance and RCMP Criminal Records Check
  • Physical Demands Test
  • Interview
  • Offer of Position

Once offered a volunteer firefighter position with the CLFD, the recruit will complete a 3-month new firefighter orientation program. After this date, they will be issued pagers and welcomed as a Firefighter.

Interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter? Join the Charlie Lake Fire Department for an Open House on Saturday, July 20th from 10am – 2pm at the Charlie Lake Fire Hall. 

There will be a BBQ and car wash by donation, with the proceeds going towards the Charlie Lake Firefighters Association.
