The CLFD trains firefighters to the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) 1001 Level 2 Standard. Currently, the department has 20 firefighters trained at that level. The CLFD recruits new firefighters once a year.
How to Become a Volunteer Firefighter with the Charlie Lake Fire Department
- Recruit Package Completion including Medical Clearance and RCMP Criminal Records Check
- Physical Demands Test
- Interview
- Offer of Position
Once offered a volunteer firefighter position with the CLFD, the recruit will complete a 3-month new firefighter orientation program. After this date, they will be issued pagers and welcomed as a Firefighter.
