Official notice: Pocket Knife Creek Wildfire Alert #4
Based on recommendations from BC Wildfire Service the Peace River Regional District has issued an Evacuation Alert due to the potential danger to life and health.
This Alert #4 rescinds the following Orders:
- Evacuation Order #1 – Issued on June 8, 2025 At 1300hrs;
- Evacuation Order #2 – Issued on June 8, 2025 At 1700hrs;
- Evacuation Order #3 – Issued on June 9, 2025 At 1330hrs;
The Evacuation Alert is in effect for properties in the following area:
- From Km Marker 325 on Highway 97N
- Following Hwy 97N, for a buffer ranging between 3.5 km – 6.5 km along Hwy 97N, on east and west sides,
- South to Km Marker 275 on Hwy 97N
- Northwest for 6 km
- North-Northwest for 5 km
- West for .4 km
- Southwest for 7.8 km
- West for 42.5 km
- South for 6.15 km
- East for 11.8 km
- South for 18.8 km
- Southeast for 57.5 km to Hwy 97N
- Continuing southeast 9 km
- Northwest for 14.8 km
- Southeast for 13 km to the Km Marker 275 on Hwy 97N
PRRD Alerts and Orders do not affect First Nations communities on Reserve Lands or municipalities as they issue their own.

An Evacuation Alert has been issued to prepare you to evacuate your premises, or property should it be found necessary. Residents will be given as much notice as possible prior to evacuation; however, you may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.
Now is the time to get prepared:
- Keep your personal vehicle’s gas tank full.
- Bring a minimum of three days of food and essential supplies (such as medication and pet supplies).
- Locate all family members and designate a meeting area outside the evacuation area, should an Evacuation Order be declared while separated.
- Sign up for North East BC Emergency notifications at nebcalerts.com/ to receive alerts about Evacuation Orders and Evacuation Alerts.
- Pack essential items for a quick departure, such as government-issued ID, medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers (e.g. insurance, passports, birth certificates, banking and mortgage information), immediate care needs for dependents, cell phone and charger and, if time and space permits, personal keepsakes.
- Prepare to move disabled persons, children, and neighbours if they need assistance.
Prepare to take pets with you, including pet care items (leash, carrier, food), and move livestock to a safe area (if possible). - Arrange transportation for all your household and fill the gas tanks of personal vehicles.
- Arrange accommodation for all members of the residence, if possible.
- If you need assistance evacuating from the area, such as for transportation, mobility, health, or other needs, please call 1-800-670-7773.
- Wait for an Evacuation Order BEFORE evacuating.
- Monitor prrd.bc.ca for information on evacuation orders, location of Reception Centres and their hours of operation.
