Official notice: Kiskatinaw River Wildfire Alert #8
The Peace River Regional District has issued a new Evacuation Alert #8 for the Kiskatinaw River Wildfire (G70422) upon recommendation from BC Wildfire Service, due to the potential danger to life and health.
This Alert #8 rescinds the following:
- Evacuation Order 4 – Issued on June 6, 2025 At 1900hrs (7:00 p.m.)
- Evacuation Order 5– Issued on June 6, 2025 At 1900hrs (7:00 p.m.)
- Evacuation Alert 6 – Issued on June 9, 2025 at 2030 hrs (8:30 p.m.)
Based on recommendations from BC Wildfire Service the Peace River Regional District has issued an Evacuation Alert due to the potential danger to life and health, the following area is asked to be on alert:
- Starting 3 km south of the junction of the One Island Lake Rd. and Hwy 52E
- 7 km east to the BC/Alberta border
- South along the BC/Alberta border for 4 km
- East 6.7 km to Hwy 52E
- Continuing east for 11.3 km to a point of intersection on the One Island Lake Rd and the Kiskatinaw River
- In a southwesterly direction following the eastern side of the One Island Lake Rd. to the junction of the One Island Lake Rd and Noel Rd
- Southerly following the western side of the One Island Lake Rd
- Continuing in a southerly direction for 30 km passing through the eastern side of Tent Lake
- Easterly 8.6 km to a point of intersection on Hwy 52E
- Continuing Easterly to the BC/Alberta border
- Southerly along the BC/Alberta border for 4.6 km
- Westerly for 12 km to Hwy 52E
- Continuing westerly for 11.9 km
- Northwesterly through Blackhawk Lake for 7 km to PDR 286
- Continuing northwesterly to a point of intersection with the Noel Rd. on the western side of Boot Lake
- Northerly, on the western side of Boot Lake, for 6.5 km
- Continuing northeasterly 12.4 km to a point of intersection on Noel Rd.
- Continuing northeasterly for 6.9 km to a point of intersection with the Kiskatinaw River
- Easterly for 8 km to a point of intersection with the Weaver Rd and One Island Lake Rd
- Continuing Easterly for 5 km returning to Hwy 52E
PRRD Alerts and Orders do not affect First Nations communities on Reserve Lands or municipalities as they issue their own.

An Evacuation Alert has been issued to prepare you to evacuate your premises, or property should it be found necessary. Residents will be given as much notice as possible prior to evacuation; however, you may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.
Now is the time to get prepared:
- Locate all family members and designate a meeting area outside the evacuation area, should an Evacuation Order be declared while separated.
- Sign up for North East BC Emergency notifications at nebcalerts.com/ to receive alerts about Evacuation Orders and Evacuation Alerts.
- Pack essential items for a quick departure, such as government-issued ID, medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers (e.g. insurance, passports, birth certificates, banking and mortgage information), immediate care needs for dependents, cell phone and charger and, if time and space permits, personal keepsakes.
- Prepare to move disabled persons, children, and neighbours if they need assistance.
- Prepare to take pets with you, including pet care items (leash, carrier, food), and move livestock to a safe area (if possible).
- Arrange transportation for all your household and fill the gas tanks of personal vehicles.
- Arrange accommodation for all members of the residence, if possible.
- If you need assistance evacuating from the area, such as for transportation, mobility, health, or other needs, please call 1-800-670-7773.
- Wait for an Evacuation Order BEFORE evacuating.
- Monitor prrd.bc.ca for information on evacuation orders, location of Reception Centres and their hours of operation.
