Fall Clean-up doesn’t save you work, it saves you money

Clipping, raking, bundling and hauling a summer’s worth of yard waste is worthwhile chore.

The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) Fall Clean-up makes it easy for you to dispose of your unwanted waste at no charge for a two-week period.

Tipping fees are waived at PRRD landfills and waste transfer stations from October 4 to 17 for residents who want to dispose of self-hauled yard and sorted waste from residential properties.

“The Fall Clean-up lets you save a little money after your fall yard work is done. It’s also an opportunity to remove unsightly residential waste items from your property for free,” says PRRD Board Chair Brad Sperling. “However, we also ask residents to check which materials are recyclable and consider taking materials to the landfills for recycling, versus just tossing materials into bulk waste bins for burial.” To check which materials are recyclable, go to prrd.bc.ca/garbage-and-recycling.

Sorted residential waste can include: household waste, wood waste, tires (off-rim), scrap metal, concrete, construction and demolition waste, appliances, and stripped and unstripped vehicle hulks.

A list of hours and locations for landfill and waste transfer stations is on the PRRD garbage and recycling page here. This free program is open to PRRD residents only: commercial waste haulers are not included in the Fall Clean-up program.
