The North Peace Leisure Pool, located in the City of Fort St. John, is aging and a replacement facility, though several years away requires planning to start now. The Peace River Regional District is carrying out a feasibility study about the future replacement facility. The study will consider questions such as where should the facility should be located and what spaces and amenities should be included in it.
The study will explore the needs, benefits and impacts of developing a new facility and will also help clarify a number of important factors, including:
- Potential components and amenities;
- Financial impacts (capital and operating); and
- Site and location considerations.
Engagement with residents, stakeholders and user groups is an important part of the project. The information gathered through the engagement, along with other research being conducted (e.g. trends and leading practices, analysis of current utilization data, population and demographics analysis), will help inform the Feasibility Study.
