Residents, businesses and communities in the Peace River region are experiencing significant impacts from natural hazard events. These include wildfires, flooding, extreme heat, drought and storms. Climate change is making these events more frequent and intense. This leads to damage to property, infrastructure, crops and forced evacuations.
In response, the Peace River Regional District (PRRD) is developing a Regional Climate Resiliency Plan (RCRP). The plan will assess risks from climate-related hazards and help the region prepare for future events. It outlines strategies to improve resilience and identifies resources needed for implementation.
The draft RCRP was presented to the Regional Board on March 6, 2025, and is now in the final stage of public engagement before the final plan is shared with the Regional Board. This is the last opportunity for the public to review the draft plan and ensure that it meets the needs of the community.
The online survey is open from March 6, 2025, to March 28, 2025, at 4:30pm (MST). Responses are anonymous and voluntary. Hard copies of the survey are available at both PRRD offices in Dawson Creek (1981 Alaska Avenue) and Fort St. John (9505 100 Street).
Residents are encouraged to review the draft plan before taking the survey to understand the questions.
