Issued July 15, 2023 at 1800 hours (6:00 p.m.)
The PRRD has cancelled Evacuation Alert #13 for the Donnie Creek wildfire. BC Wildfire made this recommendation based on favourable weather conditions and the status of fire activity in the affected areas.
Working closely with BC Wildfire, we do our best to lift Evacuation Alerts and Orders as soon as it is safe to do so. That said, it’s important to note that the Donnie Creek wildfire covers a massive area – larger than Prince Edward Island – and it is not under control. BC Wildfire has advised that it will be an active fire throughout the summer.
This means we may need to issue new Evacuation Orders and/or Alerts for this wildfire at any time, and it could be on short notice. We are monitoring the situation closely, and if it is deemed necessary, a new Evacuation Alert or Order process will be started.
