Eligible electors throughout the Peace region have the opportunity to vote on five new proposed service bylaws on October 5, 12 and 15, 2022 during the general local elections. Four of the assent votes are for regional services, which will impact both rural and municipal residents across the Peace River Regional District (PRRD), including Electoral Areas B, C, D, & E, and residents in Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, Fort St John, Tumbler Ridge, Taylor, Pouce Coupe and Hudson’s Hope. Region-wide, electors will automatically be asked to vote on the following proposed services by the PRRD, as part of the election process in their area:
- Dinosaur Museum Grant in Aid
- Global Geopark Grant in Aid
- Regional Connectivity
- Sports and Cultural Events Grant in Aid
Additionally, voters in Electoral Area B will have the opportunity to vote on the adoption of a service bylaw for a Fort St. John Public Library Financial Contribution. Only voters in Electoral Area B will be eligible to vote on this proposed service as only Area B will be impacted should the bylaw be adopted.
For more information about these assent voting opportunities, residents are encouraged to visit prrd.bc.ca/getoutandvote to learn more about the proposed services and how they will impact residential tax rates. Electors can access a tax calculator on the web page which will provide an estimate of the tax bill for their property, based on the assessed value. Further questions about these opportunities can also be directed to the PRRD at 250-784-3200.
