The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) has closed the Boundary Lake Water Station, located at 1105 Cecil Lake Road in Electoral Area B. The water station will be out of service until further notice. The closure began on Monday, August 12, 2024, after a routine inspection raised concerns about raw water quality.
Investigation has identified an equipment failure on the supplier’s side of the system as the cause of the compromised water quality. The supplier is currently repairing the failure point. While this event has affected the water station, the PRRD confirms that the damage poses no threat to public safety. However, it has impacted the treatment system’s functionality.
The PRRD is now assessing the extent of damage to the water station infrastructure. It is not yet determined how long it will take to replace the affected system parts and restore the water station to full service. Alternatively, customers can access the Feye Spring Water Station at 1863 Imperial Avenue, Clayhurst, BC.
The PRRD commits to keeping the public informed throughout this process and will provide updates about the Boundary Lake Water Station as new information becomes available. Residents can find these updates on the Regional District’s website (prrd.bc.ca) and social media platforms (Facebook @OfficialPRRD).
If you have questions about the facility closure or water services, please contact the Environmental Services Department at environmental.services@prrd.bc.ca or 250-784-3200.
