At 16:53 hours on August 9, 2024, the Moberly Lake Fire Department (MLFD) responded to a wildland fire at 11km on Moberly Forest Service Road. Upon MLFD’s arrival a rank 2-3 fire was observed, which included candling trees (0.009 hectares). Mutual aid was requested from the Chetwynd Fire Department who further supplied an engine and manpower to assist MLFD.
BC Wildfire was notified upon discovery and attended the call with air operations (bucketing), and an initial attack crew. Agencies quickly worked to establish a wet line around the perimeter of the fire and were able to contain and extinguish most of the fire.
Due to the depth and present danger, hot spots remain, however, a fire watch has been implemented.
No property loss or reported injuries as of this release date. There are no evacuation orders or alerts associated with this incident.
