The BC Wildfire Service has extended the Category 2 and 3 open fire prohibition in the Prince George Fire Centres (PGFC). This prohibition includes Category 2 and Category 3 open fires, fireworks, sky lanterns and burn barrels/cages. This order remains in force until 12:00 noon on October 28, 2022 or until it is rescinded/cancelled.
This prohibition does not apply to campfires (a half-metre high by a half-metre wide, or smaller) or to cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes.
This prohibition has been extended to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety due to the above-normal drought conditions across the PGFC.
