The General Voting Day for the Area C By-Election opens February 25, 2023 at the Charlie Lake Elementary School and Baldonnel Elementary School from 8 am to 8 pm. All eligible electors who reside in Area C or own property in this area, are encouraged to get out and vote on Saturday for the Electoral Area Director. Area C includes the communities of Baldonnel, Charlie Lake, Clairmont, Grandhaven, Old Fort and Two Rivers.
Advance Voting Opportunities were held at the Pomeroy Sport Centre in Fort St John on February 15 and 22, with a voter turnout of 106 and 126 respectively.
The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) is encouraging the public to visit prrd.bc.ca/getoutandvote to learn more about the candidates and to access the interactive web map to confirm voting eligibility.
The by-election follows a BC Supreme Court decision that ruled the October 15, 2022 vote invalid due to issuance of ballots to electors outside of Electoral Area C. The petition was submitted to the Court by the PRRD following a recount.
Preliminary results for the Area C By-Election will be issued after 8 pm on Saturday, February 25. Final voting results will be posted to the PRRD’s website (prrd.bc.ca) on Tuesday, February 28.
