BC Wildfire Operations – Kiskatinaw River Wildfire Area

While the Evacuation Order is still in effect, BC Wildfire crews continue critical operations in the Kiskatinaw River Wildfire area. As we prepare for eventual re-entry, please be aware of the following:

Ongoing Drone & Infrared Scanning
Over the next two weeks, crews will be monitoring wildfire activity using drones and infrared technology to detect remaining hot spots.

Danger Tree Removal Continues
Wildfires can weaken tree roots and burn out trunks, making them unstable and prone to falling—even without wind. These are known as danger trees, and they may fall with little warning. Danger tree removal operations are underway—please drive cautiously and stay alert for downed trees and equipment.

Equipment Demobilization
Crews will begin demobilizing heavy equipment. Keep roads clear and never block access routes—they are needed for active response and safety.

Slick Roads Reminder
Wet weather has made some roads muddy and slippery. Drive with care and adjust your speed for changing conditions.

Area Restriction to Follow Evacuation Order
Once the Evacuation Order is lifted, the wildfire area will remain under an official BC Wildfire Area Restriction. This means access will still be limited to ensure public safety and support recovery work.

Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation. Every step forward brings us closer to recovery—safely.
