The Tate Creek Community Association, which purchased the closed Tate Creek School, is looking to re-open the attached Community Centre.  As such, they are seeking the support of the Tate Creek community to assist by approving the assent vote.

Bylaw 2291, 2017 – “Tate Creek Community Centre Service Establishment Bylaw No. 2291, 2017”.  If adopted, this bylaw will establish a Local Service Area known as the “Defined Portion of Electoral Area D“ and permit the Peace River Regional District to establish capital reserve and operating accounts for the purpose of providing financial assistance to operate a community centre in Tate Creek at 15439 Old Edmonton Highway which offers recreational, cultural, and educational programming to residents.

An information meeting will be held on Monday, August 21, 2017; the assent voting (referendum) will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017.

The information meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, August 21, 2017 in the Tomslake Cultural Community Association Hall, 15392 Old Edmonton Highway, Tomslake, BC

Get Out and Vote on September 9, 2017

You may vote if:

  • You are at least eighteen (18) years old on September 9, 2017;
  • You are a Canadian citizen;
  • You have lived in BC for at least six (6) months; since March 8, 2016;
  • You have lived in or owned property in the Defined Portoin of Electoral Area D of the PRRD for at least thirty (30) days; since August 9, 2017; and
  • You are not disqualified from voting in an election.

How am I eligible to vote?

All eligible electors must register at the time of voting and sign a declaration.

You will be asked to provide two (2) pieces of ID, (1) one with a signature, that prove identity and residency. Picture ID is not necessary. Following are classes of documents that may be accepted as evidence for ID purposes:

  • BC Drivers Licence 
  • BC ID Card or Services Card
  • ICBC vehicle insurance  
  • BC Care Card
  • SIN Card 
  • Citizenship Card
  • Property tax notice 
  • Credit or debit card
  • Utility bill

Wednesday, August 30 and Wednesday, September 7, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the PRRD Office, 1981 Dawson Creek, BC

General Voting Locations 

Saturday, September 9, 2017, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (local time) at:

  • Peace River Regional District office, 1981 Alaska Avenue, Dawson Creek, BC; and
  • Tomslake Community Cultural Association, 15392 Old Edmonton Highway, Tomslake, BC
